@Matt,

It wasn't too painful since I was able to open the same .nsf file that my Mac Notes uses. Thanks again for writing the script!

@sujit,

No I haven't heard of exporting emails crashing Lotus Notes before. Exporting from a folder other than Inbox is fine (that is how I normally use it) so it might just be the volume of email you are working with at a time. I normally try to export in batches (100 or 200 emails at a time) so if something did go wrong its easier to narrow down the cause.

The difficulty reopening Notes after a crash is a common problem. On windows there are a two or three different processes running, but only some of them are shutdown during a crash. ntaskldr.exe normally is left running. Safest way to resolve is to logoff your PC and log back on, or reboot your PC. If you are feeling adventurous you can try using task manager to kill the errant process but you do so at your own risk.

@Jesus,

Unfortunately the DXLimporter error reports leave a lot to be desired. Diagnosis won't be easy.

Given the log file content it looks like mimeconvert.xml file downloaded OK and the agent found the file. Some of the content is missing but I'm assuming that was just your editing of before commenting.

Your client version and OS should also be fine.

What character set/regional locale is your PC using? Notes may be having difficulties with the XML preamble given your PC setup. Alternatively you might want to try deleting the version and designerversion attributes in the form element to see if that helps? Sorry I can't give you anything more definitive.

@cloudboy, that sounds like a pain. If you can't setup the Import DXL agent then you are pretty much out of luck. At least you had the equipment lying around so you can use a Windows client to create the agents and form. Not everyone will be that lucky. Once you setup the agents via the Windows client, were you able to export email using your Mac client working off the same or replicated database?

cloudboy,

I use Windows XP and Notes 6.5.5 and I had the error.

Any clue on how could I make this run and migrate my mail to Outlook?

Thanks and kind regards

This works great! Thanks Matt. I was able to export mails from my Inbox (took a while but it did succeed).

While exporting emails from another folder, though, notes crashed and now I am unable to open up Notes again. I am trying to figure out the problem, but just wondered if you had faced this before.

I did some research and testing and was able to determine that this issue affects Mac versions of Lotus Notes (7.03 and 8.5 beta). My workaround is to run Lotus Notes 6.5 on Windows XP using VMWare Fusion. It appears IBM never got it working on Mac OSX. Bummer!!
